Feast and Tweet – a Virtual Party!

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

We’re just one day away from our inaugural Feast and Tweet event featuring a Taste of Thai. The concept is easy:  gather some friends for a Thai food dinner (take out or cook at home with our easy recipes), then pair the food with some wine. We’ll all gather online together at 6:30 Pacific time to share our experiences. We’ll use a simple grading system to determine how well we like our wines alone and paired with food, and what dishes work best with which wines. It will be a great food and wine pairing experiment! Want to join the fun? It’s not too late. Register today and I’ll give you a shout out on Twitter. You don’t have to be a foodie or a wino, this event is for anyone (over 21 that is) who simply wants to play with some food and wine pairings. However, if you do have a food or wine blog, we’ll be happy to add it to our list.

Meanwhile, check out the great sites of our participants so far:

Pantry Ingredients for Thai Cooking

I recently had the pleasure of taking a cooking class from Chef Toby Kim of NuCulinary after I got a great deal for it on Living Social. This class is based on easy everyday Asian cooking. Every week over the course of the summer, Toby has visited a different Asian cuisine and offered pantry items and tips to make it an easy addition to the home cook’s repertoire. The week I attended we learned how easy it is to make Thai Red Curry with Chicken and Vegetables based on a recipe from Fine Cooking. This recipe is very versatile in that you can substitute the vegetables in the recipe for whatever is fresh at the market. You can also make it vegetarian by substituting tofu for the chicken. This is a great recipe to help us prepare for our Feast and Tweet Taste of Thai!

Feast with Your Friends and Tweet Online

Would you like to explore the world of food and wine pairing? Join the first Feast and Tweet taking place online Wednesday, September 29th at 6:30 pm Pacific time. Unlike most other virtual tastings, this one combines wine and food. Our theme for this event is a Taste of Thai.

Our goals include making gathering with friends fun and pairing wines with food easy. We offer resources from food and wine sages for practical pairing advice as well as access to our culinary partners who are happy to offer advice on meal preparation.

We also provide:

You are welcome to take part whether you want to get your food from a take-out joint or prepare it yourself.

If you’re concerned that you’re not well versed enough on wine, don’t worry. We’ve developed a grading system that has everyone talking the same language with regard to wine and the pairings.

So, why not join the fun and share your pairings on-line with other food and wine lovers? Register now to take part September 29th and we’ll link to your blog. When chatting up the event on Twitter use the hashtag #Feasts.
